10. Turn adjusting screw No. 2 to bring up the cartridge, that is so that the

wiper edge of the insert touches against the plunger until the hand reads zero corresponding to the height of the stacked slip gauges. Now slacken the adjusting screw.

11. Lock screw No. 1; in doing so the cartridge will tend to move by about

0,01 mm up or down. Having again unlocked screw No. 1, repeat the operation from point 10, taking account of the value and direction of the observed displacement. In this way the final locking of the cartridge will tend towards the required zero reading.

12. Repeat operations 3 and 4 on the other ‘upper’ cartridges and take the

same edge of the same insert to continue adjusting them following points 9 and 10, always taking into account the displacement observed at 11. 13. Turn the cutter upside down, proceed with operations 3 and 4 and always with the same edge of the insert adjust them following points 9, 10 and 11.

14. Proceed with the final checking and be sure above all to lock the No. 1

screw on all cartridges.

15. Gently re-tighten the adjusting screw No. 2 against the bottom of its seat.

NOTE: “Half-side” cutters, with non-staggered teeth, need only be adjusted on one side. Mount and clamp the cutter tightly onto the adjusting unit on the centering seat. 3. Gently loosen the fixing screw on the first ‘upper’ cartridge and push it downwards. 4. Mount on the adjustable cartridge the corresponding indexable insert see A 5.

5. Position and secure the gauge according to A 6, then work out the reference

height and proceed to bring the dial to zero as under points A 7 and A 8. 6. Put the rectangular end using the longest edge for cutter widths from 10 to 14 mm of the adjusting lever underneath the cartridge. 7. By moving the lever downwards, lift the cartridge, i.e. push the insert wiper edge against the plunger, until the dial hand reads the pre-set zero mark. 8. Tighten, but do not lock, the fixing screw of the cartridge, while making sure that the dial hand remains on zero.
