Abstrak


Stress Corrosion Cracking (SeC) merupakan bentuk kegagalan pada material yang
lazim ditemukan pada bejana bertekanan dan pemipaan, Kegagalan terjadi akibat pengaruh
kombinasi dan interaksi yang bersinergi antara tegangan mekanik, lingkungan korosif, dan
kerentananstruktur suatu material.
Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengkaji karakteristik kegagalan SCC Baja
Nirkarat Austenit AISI 304, 316, dan 316L pada larutan Glycerol dengan konsentrasi
klorida yang bervariasi yakni 50, 6.000, 9.000, dan 12.000 ppm, dua variasi tegangan
awal, yaitu, 50% dan 70% dari Yield Strength masing-masing jenis material uji, dan pada
temperatur 150 "C konstan. Pengujian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metoda Spring
Loaded Fixture berdasarkan ASTM G49 dan E 292 masing-masing untuk metoda
pcngujian dan geometri benda uji.
Kegagalan SCC diawali dengan serangan pitting dan depletion hingga tegangan
mencapai ultimate strength. Kegagalan terjadi dengan tiba-tiba dengan model kegagalan
adalah brittle fracture pada butirannya (transgranular). AISI 304 memiliki kerentanan
yang lebih tinggi pada keseluruhan larutan pengujian. Pada 50 ppm konsentrasi klorida,
keseluruhan material uji tidak mengalami kegagalan SCC hingga exposure time 556 jam.
Semakin besar tegangan dan konsentrasi klorida, maka kecepatan retak semakin tinggi
denganfailure time yang semakin singkat.

Abstract
Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) is a kind of material failure which is commonly

found at pressure vessel and pipes. Fracture is taken place as the result of the combined and
synergistic interaction of mechanical stress, environment, and material susceptible.
Tbis experiment is aimed 10 investigate characteristic of SCC failure of Austenitic
stainless steel AISI 304, AISI 316, and 316L in Glycerol solution with four variation of
chloride concentration, namely 50, 6.000, 9.000, and 12.000 ppm, two kind of initial
tensile stress, i.e. 50% and 70% Yield Strength of each of material test, and 150 "c
constant temperature. The experiment arc executed by using Spring Loaded Fixture !;ype in
accordance with ASTM G49 and E 292 for experiment method and specimen geometry
each.
Initiation of see failure is commenced by pitting corrosion attack and depletion
until the current stress reach the ultimate strength. Failure is OCCUlTed in catastrophic and
brittle fracture type (transgranular). AISI 304 is more susceptible for all experiment
condition. Those entire material tests are not fail for 50 ppm chloride concentration until
556 hour exposure time. The more stress and chloride concentration are given. then crack
speed become higher with shorten failure time.
