Abstract

The L2 basis method constructed from Laguerre polynomial has been applied to helium atom, as
a simple example of many electron atoms. The non-relativistic Schroedinger equation of helium
atom with l = 0 will be considered. By separating the variables related to the electrons position,
the helium states can then be written as a coupling between two single electron states where
these states can be expressed as L2 basis expansion. The eigen energies and states can finally be
solved by diagonalization of the Hamiltonian.
