Example : 1 month validity 01JAN to 01FEB 2 month validity 14JAN to 14MAR Modul 097.KK.09-International ticketing Page 75  Where the corresponding date does not exist in a short subsequent month, then the months shall mean from a given date in one month to the last day of such shorter subsequent month. Example : 1 month validity 30JAN to 2829FEB  When the given date is the last day in one month, then the corresponding date is the last day in the subsequent months, e.g. 1 month validity 31JAN to 2829FEB 2 month validity 2829FEB to 30APR 3 month validity 30APR to 31JUL Year – a period of time from the date of ticket issuance or the date of commencement of travel, as applicable, to the corresponding date in the following year, e.g. 1 year validity 01JAN00 – 31JAN01 Minimum Stay Requirements The minimum stay date is the earliest day that the passenger can start his return travel. In order to determine this date it is important to study the paragraph concerning the minimum stay requirement in the fare rule. Example 1: EH Journey : Proposed travel dates : LON NBO --- break point 03JUL XPAR 14JUL LON 14JUL Paragraph 6 of Rule Y059 specifies a 6 day minimum stay requirement. This subparagraph when linked with the overriding paragraph 6 o Y059 is composed of the following key points : a. number of days to add : 6 days b. preposition and action : counting from the day after departure c. pointarea concerned : on the first outbound international sector Formula : Number of Days : 6 + Departure day : 03JUL = Minimum stay date : 09JUL This means that you may allow the passenger to be booked for a return flight on or after 09JUL. Thus, the proposed return date on 14JUL is permissible. Modul 097.KK.09-International ticketing Page 76 Where to show the Minimum Stay Date In Rule Y059 used in Example 1, the General Rule continues with the following clause : “to the earliest day return travel may commence from the last stopover point outside the country of origin including for this purpose the point of turn around” In the example above, the last stopover outside the COC is Nairobi NBO, which is also the point of turnaround. NBO is also the city beside which the minimum stay date appears. Enter this date in the “Not Valid Before” box starting from NBO in coupon 2 and onwards. Example 2 : AT Journey : Proposed travel dates : MEX MIA 28JUL FRA --- break point 30JUL MIA open-dated MEX open-dated The key points in Rule X0764 are : a. number of days to add : 7 days b. preposition and action : counting from the day after departure c. point area concerned : on the outbound transatlantic sector Formula : Number of Days : 7 + Outbound transatlantic departure day : 30JUL = 37 - less the number of days in JUL 31JUL = Minimum stay date : 06AUG Although the passenger requested for open-dated return coupons, subsequent bookings on such coupons have to be made no earlier than 06AUG. “to the earliest day return transatlantic travel may commence from the last stopover point including for this purpose the point of turnaround.” This means start entering the minimum stay date against the last stopover point from where the transatlantic travel begins. Modul 097.KK.09-International ticketing Page 77 Example 3 : Sunday Rule Journey Proposed travel dates : TUN LIS --- break point 01APR SAT XAGP open-dated TUN open-dated Rule Z010 Minimum Stay : “ return travel from the last fare construction point outside the country of unit origin must not commence before 0001 hours on the Sunday after the date of arrival at the first fare construction point outside the country of unit origin.” Therefore, if the passenger left on a very late flight on 01APR Saturday and arrived 02APR Sunday, then the earliest return is the following Sunday which is 09APR. This date is shown starting from LIS which is the first fare construction point outside the country of unit origin, i.e. Example 4: Counting from day after arrival Journey : Departure : Arrival dates : JNB XAMS 11SEP 11SEP YTO --- break point 12SEP 12SEP XNYC open-dated JNB open-dated Rule X0807 Minimum Stay : “ 7 days; from Africa : the number of days counting from the day after arrival in Area 1 to the earliest day return travel may commence from Area 1” Key points : a. number of days to add : 7 days b. preposition and action : counting from the day after arrival c. pointarea concerned : in Area 1 Formula : Number of days : 7 + Day of arrival in Area 1 : 12SEP = Minimum stay date : 19SEP Show this date in the “Not Valid Before” NVB box starting from coupon 3 which is return from Area 1 commences. Modul 097.KK.09-International ticketing Page 78 Maximum Stay Requirements The maximum stay date is the expiry date of the ticket. By days : Add the number of days of maximum stay to the departure date from the point of origin. If departure date is : 16MAY And if maximum stay is : 30days Equals : 46 Less number of days in MAY : 31 Then maximum stay date is : 15JUN Example : Excursion fare valid for 30 days YEE30 Journey : Travel dates : Ticketing Entry : STO AMS 16MAY RIO --- 18MAY AMS open-dated STO open-dated It is important to note that while 01JUL is the expiry date of the ticket, it also means that is the last possible date that the passenger can return. By months : Count the number of months from the day of departure from the point of origin. If departure date is : 16MAY And if maximum stay is : 1 month 1M Then the maximum stay date is : 16JUN Show this date in the “Not Valid After” NVA boxes of all the coupons to preclude the fraudulent entry of other dates. Closed bookings for Special Fares with Penalty Fees For special fares which have cancellationrebooking penalty fees such as APEX and PEX fares, specify each confirmed travel date in the “Not Valid Before and After” boxes of the relevant flight coupons. Establishing Seasonality and Day of Week Conditional Fare Basis Code Modul 097.KK.09-International ticketing Page 79  Seasonality‟s vary from low to high season : H – for high or peak season K – for middleshoulder season or second seasonal level out of 3 or more levels L – for lowbasic or off-peak season  Part of Week Codes : W – for weekend X – for weekday Example : Journey : Departure dates : CPH XYMQ 03MAR FRI YYC --- 04MAR XNYC 18APR TUE CPH 19APR According to paragraph 3 Seasonality, Subparagraph B of Rule X0712, use the date of departure on the outbound transatlantic sector to determine the seasonal fare for the entire return trip pricing unit. As the travel date 03MAR is within the period of 25DEC – 29MAR and falls on a Friday, use the Basic Weekend level, i.e. YLWAP3M.
