  Functional Grammar learns how meanings are realized in a text. A functional grammar encourages the teacher to think about teaching of the grammar in terms of the functional grammar patterns of the clause, how these are expressed: their potential for making a meaning in a whole text. Functional Grammar explains three meanings such interpersonal, ideatio nal, and textual meanings. The ideational meaning can be achieved by using the realization of the transitivity system. Transitivity is the structures to know the meaning of English clauses. The transitivity systems consist of participants, processes, and circumstances. Process types are categorized into seven such as material, mental, relational, behavioural, verbal, existential, and meteorological processes which the categories of process are based on semantic. Process types can be found in speech. Functions of speech are the way of communication. By communicating, listeners/audiences know what the speaker means through each clause. Clause is an attempt to persuade someone to be interacted because participants, processes, and circumstances are realized as the information. Clause in a formal language shows the logical form of natural language obtained by its interpretations.

  The research is conducted by a descriptive qualitative. The writer uses functional grammar approach based on Gerot and wignell (1994). The data of this research is the process types of speech script of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at

  The result of this research shows that there are seven process types found in speech of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The whole process types are 252. Material process has the percentage 41,27 % with 104 processes, mental process has 25 % with 63 processes, behavioural process has 1,59 % with 4 processes, verbal process has 1,98 % with 5 processes, relational process has 28,57 % with 72 processes, existential process has 1,19 % with 3 processes, and meteorological process has 0,40 % with 1 process from all of process types used by him as the speaker in the speech. Based on the data, the writer finds that the most of process types are realized by verbs which all are done by the action of the subject or the participant in this speech. It means that he always conducts many activities with Indonesia as his country when he makes some plans in the future for human progress of Indonesia. So, it commonly is worked by an action.

  This research suggests the readers, especially for students of English Education Department of University to learns about process types, one of the ways by using speech. Besides, the they have to know the meaning or the interpretation of the utterance and the context of situation, especially in learning process. For the teachers or lecturer used the speech script could give the valuable contribution in improving their knowledge about the process types and for the other researchers to do the study further.

  Proses (Process Types) Tata bahasa fungsional (Functional Grammar) mempelajari bagaimana makna yang diwujudkan dalam sebuah teks. Sebuah tata bahasa fungsional menganjurkan seorang guru untuk memikirkan tentang pengajaran sebuah tata bahasa di istilah dari sebuah pola tata bahasa fungsional pada sebuah klausa, bagaimana ini diekspresikan: potensi mereka untuk membuat sebuah arti di sebuah keseluruhan teks. Tata bahasa fungsional menjelaskan tiga makna seperti makna interpersonal, makna ideasional, dan makna tekstual. Sebuah makna ideasional dapat dicapai dengan menggunakan realisasi dari sistem transitivitas.

  Transitivitas adalah struktur untuk mengetahui arti dari klausa bahasa inggris. Sistem transitivitas terdiri dari peserta (participant), proses (process), dan keadaan (circumstance). Jenis-jenis process dikategorikan menjadi tujuh seperti proses material, mental, relational, behavioural, verbal, existential, dan meteorological yang mana kategori-kategori proses berdasarkan pada semantik. Jenis-jenis proses dapat ditemukan dalam pidato. Fungsi pidato adalah cara komunikasi.

  Denganberkomunikasi, pendengar/penonton mengetahui tentang pembicara maksudkan melalui setiap klausa. Klausa merupakan upaya untuk membujuk seseorang untuk menjadi diinteraksikan karena peserta, proses, dan keadaan direalisasikan sebagai informasi. Klausa dalam bahasa formal menunjukkan bentuk logis dari bahasa alami diperoleh oleh penafsirannya.

  Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan utama: (1) untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis proses yang ditemukan dalam pidato Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono pada Konferensi Indonesia di Brasil pada 20 Juni 2012, (2) untuk mengetahui jenis dominan proses yang ditemukan dalam pidato Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono pada Konferensi Indonesia di Brasil pada 20 Juni 2012.

  Penelitian ini dilakukan oleh deskriptif kualitatif. Penulis menggunakan pendekatan tata bahasa fungsional berdasarkan Gerot dan wignell (1994). Data penelitian ini adalah jenis proses pidato naskah Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono pada Konferensi Indonesia di Brasil pada 20 Juni 2012. Kemudian, sumber data penelitian ini adalah naskah pidato Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono pada Konferensi Indonesia di Brasil pada 20 Juni 2012.

  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada tujuh jenis proses yang ditemukan dalam pidato Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Jenis-jenis seluruh proses adalah 252. Proses material memiliki persentase 41,27 % dengan proses 104, proses mental memiliki persentase 25 % dengan proses 63, proses behavioural memiliki 1,59 % dengan proses 4, proses verbal memiliki 1,98 % dengan proses 5, proses relational memiliki 28,57 % dengan proses 72, proses existential memiliki 1,19 % dengan proses 3, dan proses meteorological memiliki 0,40 % dengan proses 1 dari semua jenis

  • –jenis proses yang digunakan oleh dia sebagai pembicara dalam pidato. Berdasarkan data, penulis menemukan bahwa sebagian besar jenis proses yang diwujudkan oleh kata-kata kerja yang semua dilakukan oleh aksi/gerak subjek atau peserta dalam pidato ini. Itu bermaksud bahwa dia selalu memimpin beberapa aktivitas dengan Indonesia sebagai negaranya ketika dia membuat beberapa rencana di waktu yang akan datang untuk ke majuan manusia Indonesia. Jadi, biasanya dikerjakan oleh sebuah aksi/gerakan.

  Penelitian ini menyarankan pembaca, khususnya bagi mahasiswa dengan program studi pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas untuk belajar tentang jenis- jenis process, salah satu cara dengan menggunakan pidato. Selain itu, mereka harus tahu arti atau peterjemahan dari ucapan dan konteks situasi terutama dalam proses pembelajaran. Untuk guru atau dosen menggunakan skrip pidato bisa memberikan kontribusi yang berharga dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan mereka tentang jenis-jenis proses dan untuk peniliti lainnya agar melakukan penelitian lebih lanjut.
