First Eco-Green Accommodation Work Barge in Indonesia
Ready to Operate in Mahakam Delta
Jakarta, 7th May 2015 - PT Elnusa Tbk (Elnusa), one of the leading national provider of energy
services, performed towing of ELNUSA SAMUDERA 8 (ELSA-8) from the Port of Tanjung Uncang,
Batam towards Kalimantan on Wednesday, 5th May 2015. ELSA-8 is the first eco-green
Accommodation Work Barge (AWB) in Indonesia, owned by ELNUSA and will work for Total E & P
Indonesie (TEPI) in the Mahakam Delta, East Kalimantan. Besides ELSA-8, there are seven other
barges owned by ELNUSA which also operates in the Mahakam Delta for variety of services.
Head of Corporate Communications ELNUSA, Sri Purwanto, explains, "ELNUSA has been more than
28 years working in the Mahakam Delta, with the addition of a new AWB unit we hope to take part
and contribute better performance. TEPI’s trust over the last quarter century shows that ELNUSA
has the competence and the excellent customer service that continues to be trusted subcontractor
of oil and gas services in the Mahakam Delta. "
Elnusa proudly presents ELSA-8 which will start operation in June 2015 to provide variety of services
such as Hydraulic Workover, Cementing, and Slickline Services. This barge is the second
accommodation barge owned by ELNUSA that can accommodate 66 workers in the project, thus
saving fuel consumption for various transportation activities such as mobilization and demobilization
of workers from the barge to the platform.
As the first AWB eco-green in Indonesia, ELSA-8 has several advantages among them; (i) Made by
the standards of the European Union, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - Euro III / Stage
IIIA and Tier 3, so it is environmentally friendly and can reduce carbon emissions, (ii) Using solar
panels as an illumination system alternative is mounted on the whole the engine room and
navigation, as well as (iii) Designed with the generator engine should utilize biodiesel as an energy
source.
This barge was designed and made by Indonesian workers to adjust operational needs of TEPI and
environmentally friendly system. This manufacturing indicates that ELNUSA as a national company
has been able to make barge independently and innovate with regard to the environmental
sustainability of Indonesia. ***
