English is a language used to communicate in all part of the world.
English as an international language used to make the communication easy with
one country to another. The mastery of English in business is important right
now. Because it is be able to help people to follow the development of business.

It is also in field of tourism, technology, and science. The mastery of English
according to the learners need, here English is taught as Specific Purposes (ESP).
This research is to know the difficulties faced by the teacher and the
strategies used by the teacher in teaching English for Specific Purposes of
Secretary Department at SMK Nasional Pati.
This research is qualitative research with a descriptive method. The
methods of collecting data are interview and questionnaire.
The result of this research shows that the teacher’s difficulties are (a)
difficulty in arranging ESP syllabus, (b) Difficulty of the availability of ESP
textbook, (c) Difficulty to find book activity for the students, (d) Difficulty of the
availability of supporting tools, and (e) Difficulty to arrange classroom activity.
The teacher used demonstrating and role play strategies in teaching ESP of
secretary department at SMK Nasional Pati.
Therefore, the writer suggests that: (a) It will be better that all of
vocational school in Indonesia applied ESP in their compulsory subject. So the
government should arrange about the necessities to teach ESP, (b) In teaching
ESP the teacher can use special strategy that most effective for the students, so it
will different from teaching English in general, (c) For the other researcher who
will conduct the kind of this research, it can be reference that can make your
research better.

Bahasa Inggris adalah bahasa yang digunakan untuk berkomunikasi di
seluruh bagian dunia. Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa Internasional digunkanan
untuk mempermudah komunikasi satu negara dengan negara yang lain.
Pennguasaan bahasa dalam bidang bisnis sangat penting untuk sekarang ini.
Karena itu dapat membantu orang untuk mengikuti perkembangan bisnis.
Demikian juga dalam bidang pariwisata, teknologi, dan pengetahuan. Penguasaan
bahasa inggris berdasarkan kebutuhan pelajar, disini bahasa inggris diajarkan
sebagai bahasa inggris untuk tujuan tertentu.

Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kesulitan yang dialami guru dan strategi
yang digunakan guru dalam mengajar bahasa inggris untuk tujuan tertentu pada
jurusan sekretaris di SMK Nasional Pati.
Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif menggunakan metode diskripsi.
Metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah wawancara dan
kuesioner.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan kesuliatan yang dialami guru sebagai
berikut (a) kesulitan dalam menyusun silabus ESP, (2) kesulitan dalam
ketersediaanya buku ESP, (c) Kesulitan untuk mendapatkan buku aktifitas untuk
siswa, (d) Kesulitan alat pendukung pembelajaran, (e) Kesulitan menyusun
kegiatan dikelas. Guru menggunakan strategi demonstrasi dan drama dalam
mengajar bahasa inggris untuk tujuan tertentu pada jurusan sekertaris di SMK
Nasional Pati.
Oleh Sebab itu, penulis memberikan saran: (a) Akan lebih baik jika
seluruh sekolah kejuruan di Indonesia menerapkan ESP dalam mata pelajaran
wajib, jadi pemerintah membuat segala kebutuhan dalam pengajaran ESP, (b)
Dalam mengajar ESP guru dapat menggunakan strategi khusus yang paling efektif
untuk siswa, jadi itu akan membuat mengjar ESP bebeda dengan mengajar bahasa
inggris secara umum, (c) untuk peneliti yang lainnya yang akan membuat
penelitian dengan jenis yang sama, ini dapat menjadi referensi yang akan

membuat penelitian selanjutnya lebih baik.
