ABSTRACT
The title of this paper is The Description of Triangle Love in Nicholas Sparks’
“The Notebook”, it is a kind of triangle love among Allie Nelson, Noah Calhoun,
and Lon Hammond Jr.Allie and Noah loved each other, but their love had to be ended
because of Allie’s parents did not agree with their relationship because of different
status. Allie came from a rich family and Noah came from a poor family. Allie had no
choice except leaving Noah and had to return to Winston-Salem with his parents.
After the seperation, Allie made the relationship with a successful lawyer, Lon. Three
weeks before her wedding, she came to see Noah. That condition made her to be

dilemma and had to choose who she would spend the rest of her life with.In writing
this paper, the writer used the method of library and intrinsic approach. From the
analysis, the writer found that the conclusion of this analysis, because there was a
different status and this conflict sadly in heart. Hopefully, by this paper the readers
can understand the elements of novel especially the main characters and the triangle
love which has been described by the novelist.

ABSTRAK
Kertas karya ini berjudul The Description of Triangle Love in Nicholas Sparks’
Novel The Notebook yang merupakan suatu pembahasan mengenai cinta segitiga
yang terjadi antara Allie Nelson, Noah Calhoun, dan Lon Hammond Jr. Allie dan
Noah saling mencintai, namun cinta mereka harus berakhir karena orang tua Allie
yang tidak menyetujui hubungan mereka karena perbedaan status. Allie berasal dari
keluarga kaya dan Noah berasal dari keluarga miskin. Allie tidak punya pilihan lain
selain meninggalkan Noah dan kembali ke Winston-Salem bersama orangtuanya.
Setelah perpisahan itu, Allie menjalin hubungan dengan pengacara sukses yang
bernama Lon. Tiga minggu sebelum pernikahannya, Allie datang mengunjungi Noah.
Keadaan tersebut membuat Allie menjadi dilema dan harus menetukan dengan siapa

dia akan menghabiskan masa hidupnya. Dalam penulisan kertas karya ini, penulis
menggunakan metode perpustakaan dan pendekatan intrinsik. Dari hasil analisis,
penulis memperoleh kesimpulan bahwa akar permasalahan dari konflik tersebut
adalah dikarenakan perbedaan status dan bentuk penyelesaiannya adalah sangat
diperlukan mengikuti kata hati dalam apapun yang dilakukan. Semoga dengan adanya
kertas karya ini para pembaca dapat mengerti unsur dalam novel khususnya makna
cinta segitiga yang digambarkan oleh penulis novel.
