ABSTRACT
Heavy metals monitoring in seawater is very important as a consequence of their danger potential to
aquatic life. Electrochemical technique is a very suitable way to analyze trace elements in a solution.
For environmental samples, the popular technique is differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry
(DPASV). In this research, the determination of Cd, Cu, and Pb has been done using DPASV
technique. The influence of metal deposition time, linear concentration range, limit of detection,
reproducibility, and recovery were observed. The result showed the optimum deposition time for Cd,
Cu, and Pb was 300 s, 540 s, and 330 s, respectively. The concentration range was linear at 50 ppb to
1000 ppb, with correlation coefficient 0.9997 for all heavy metals. The limit of detection has closed
values, 28.5 ppb for Cd, 29.1 ppb for Cu, and 26.2 ppb for Pb. Measurement of reproducibility and %
recovery showed good result. The procedure was successfully applied to the speciation of Cd, Cu, and

Pb in samples of seawater around Benoa Port, Bali, Indonesia.
