ABSTRACT
Waste has been recognized as one of the various reason that caused
environmental and healthy problem. As a vehicle of transportation that usually
operation at along time and straight on the water, ship always got a lot of
problem with it because we have to find some way to treat it well, so it can't evoke
some new problem, without we have to Lose our advantages as a comercial ship.
Until now incineration is the best w~y
to treat waste on board, but it still has
some lack hecause of emission and energy prohlem related on characteristic of
waste. Fuel as energy is needed to nm the process in incinerator, while on some
case maybe we don't need it because of the characteristic of the waste. On board,
sludge oil produced from fuel and lubricating system. commonly is used than
diesel oil because of economic and ener?Jl reason, but this situation depend on the
number of sludge on board because not all of the ship able to provide sludge oil
appropriate with their incinerator necessity. So by recuperate energy from
exhaust gas of main propulsion plant or we call as "waste heat" to help the
process in the incinerator can he, one of the solution that must he consider.
Recuperate energy that we disc.wis here are some energy which have identical
function like fuel. That's way the writer interested to analyse the possibility of
using exhaust gas as an added energy for incineration process. For the first step
is to find some ship as an analyse object, and than we calculated how much waste
commonly used to process, how much enerzy that must be consume, than we have
the result and use it in order to compare with another condition, which mean how
((we used exhaust gas from main propulsion plant, will be any different, if. there is
a different, hmt' fansignificant are the result and the final destination will he the
answer about, is it possible to employ waste heat in order to increase the
efficiency in the incinerator process.

Sering kali hta dengar bahwa sampah adalah salah satu sumber masalah
yang berpotensi menimbulkan gangguan terhadap lingkungan baik itu
kelestariannya ataupun kesehatan dari lingkungan tersebut. Kapal sebagai
sarana transportasi utama yang kerap kali beroperasi dalam waktu yang lama
dan berinteraksi langsung dengan lingkungan yang dalam hal ini adalah
lingkungan perairan, juga harus menghadapi persoalan yang sama berkaitan
dengan sampah yailu, cara hagaimana cara pengolahan sampah sehingga
dampak yang ditimhulkan dapat dihilangkanldiminimalkan tanpa mengurangi
effektifitas dari fungsi sebuah kapal sehagai sarana transportasi. Incineration
sebagai salah satu alternatif pilihan yang sementara ini tetap menjadi solusi
utama dalam penanganan masalah sampah di kapal dipandang masih memiliki
kekurangan diantaranya masalah mengenai emisi gas buang yang dihasilkan dan
konsumsi energi sehubungan dengan karakteristik sampah yang diolah, konsumsi
energi yang dimaksud disini adalah penggunaan bahan bakar untuk membantu
