Abstract
Thepurpose of this researchis : (l) to lcnowthe literature obsolescencecited in the 2008 thesesat
the Department of Forest Management,Faculty of Forestry UGM (2) to lonw the growth of literature
hasedon the type and languageof collection which were mostly cited by studentsat the Department of
Forest Management, Faculty of Forestry UGM in writing theses during 2008, (j) to know the
availability of a collection cited by students of the Department of Forest Management,Faculty of
Forestry Gadjah Mada University in writing thesesin 2008. This study is a descriptive research,of
which the subject is the thesesat the Department of Forest Management,Faculty of Forestry Gadjah
Mada University in 2008 which amountedto 67 thesesandresearchobjectsis all the literature included
in the cited bibliography on Forest Managementtheses,Faculty of Forestry Gadjah Mada University
in 2008 qs mdny as 1498 titles. Method of data collectionuses documentation.Data analysis uses
citation analysis.Theresultsshow that: (1) the literature obsolescenceofthe thesesagedI years or less

is consideredup to date and aged more than 8 years is out of date (2) the growth of literature on this
researchshows8 years; this meansthat thegrowth of Forest Managementliterature is relatively quick
comparedto other subjects,while the growth of the literature basedon literature and language of the
literature indicates that bool
