Abstract
The diversity of brands and types of computers provide many options for the community in
determining which machine is suited to its needs. There are several aspects to be considered by the
user, the quality of the hardware, price, guarantee or warranty, service, and the problem needs of the
users themselves. Therefore, we need a system of recommendations that can help the user in making
the selection of computer products available. This research have applies prototyping as the
methodology in making recommendation system on the purchase of computer. By using the method of
Item-Based Collaborative Filtering, recommendation systems can help users make decisions in an
election computer products to be purchased. The results showed that functionaly, the system can be
run in accordance with their respective duties and to provide recommendations to the user by
providing an overview of the product to be purchased.

Beragamnya merk dan jenis komputer memberikan banyak pilihan bagi masyarakat dalam
menentukan komputer mana yang sesuai dengan kebutuhannya. Ada beberapa aspek yang perlu
dipertimbangkan oleh user, yakni kualitas dari perangkat keras, harga, jaminan atau garansi, layanan,
serta masalah kebutuhan dari pengguna itu sendiri. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suatu sistem
rekomendasi yang dapat membantu user dalam melakukan pemilihan terhadap produk-produk
komputer yang ada. Penelitian ini menerapkan metodologi Prototyping dalam membuat sistem
rekomendasi pembelian komputer. Dengan menggunakan metode Item-Based Collaborative Filtering,
sistem rekomendasi ini dapat membantu user mengambil keputusan dalam melakukan pemilihan
produk komputer yang akan dibeli. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara fungsional sistem ini
dapat berjalan sesuai dengan tugasnya masing-masing dan dapat memberikan rekomendasi kepada
user dengan memberikan gambaran tentang produk yang akan dibeli.
