SOUTH SUMATRA LEADING THE FFB OUTPUT RECOVERY
Jakarta, 31 July 2012 – PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk. and subsidiaries “a poe a Ag o" o the Co pa
released its unaudited financial and operational results for the period ending in 30 June 2012.
Sampoerna Agro, as a whole, made a significant output recovery in the second quarter of 2012 that
booked 373,087 tons of F esh F uit Bu hes FFB output, or 45% higher than the previous quarter. A
lot of the output growth was largely attributable to its South Sumatra estates that contributed 279,468
tons of FFB harvests in the second quarter, 50% escalation versus the previous quarter. Total FFB output
in the first semester 2012 reached 631,186 tons. For the remainder of the year, Management
anticipates higher output in the second semester 2012.
At the beginning of the second quarter 2012, price of C ude Pal Oil CPO in Malaysia Derivatives
Exchange strengthened considerably and peaked at about Rm3,567 per ton on 10 April 2012 but then
began to descend towards to its bottom which on 15 June 2012 touched Rm2,869 per ton. Despite
greater fluctuations within the second quarter versus the first quarter, average price for both periods
turned out to be exactly the same, at Rm 3,218 per ton.
The Company managed to sell its CPO in the second quarter with an average price of Rp8,034 per kg
(net of export tax), or 8% higher than the first quarter average. Within the first six months of 2012, the
Company booked an average selling price of Rp7,911 per kg (inclusive of export tax), or Rp7,726 per kg
(net of export tax). During the period, approximately 86% of total CPO sales was sold to domestic
markets.
Total revenue of the Company by end of June 2012 reached Rp1.39 trillion, or 19% less than the first
semester of 2011 mainly due to lower selling price and sales volume of its main products, the CPO and
Pal Ke el PK which if combined, contributed 97% of total revenue. As a result, revenue
contribution from CPO and PK for the period dropped by 13% and 43% respectively.
While still maintaining our strong grip on the palm oil business, Sampoerna Agro recently made a
decisive call to expand the rubber usi ess
a ui i g PT Huta Ketapa g I dust i HKI that had
access to more than 100 thousand hectare of land in West Kalimantan to grow rubber. The move was
earmarked on 28 May 2012 when ownership over HKI became 80%.
