Seasons
It is in the middle of summer, the air
is very hot and dry. The temperature is about
34 degrees Celsius. I am sitting by the
window of my living room, looking at the

Tangkuban Perahu
Long time ago in West Java, lived a woman
named Dayang Sumbi. She lived alone in the forest.
One day Dayang Sumbi was quilting when
suddenly, her quilt fell off from her house. Then she
prayed to Gods, “if a man pickes up my quilt, he will
be my husband. If a woman, she will be my sister.”
Then, a male dog pick it up. For keeping her words,
Dayang Sumbi married the dog and called him
Tumang. Dayang Sumbi gave birth baby, named him
Sangkuriang, but never told him who his father was.
One day, Sangkuriang was hunting with
Tumang in the forest and he found nothing. He
blamed Tumang for the failure and killed him. When
Dayang Sumbi knew that, she hit Sangkuriang’s head
with a big spoon and asked him to go.
Many year later, the wandering Sangkuriang
found a house in the forest an old beautiful woman
was in the house. The woman, Dayang Sumbi,
recognized the advanturer as Sangkuriang,
Sangkuriang forced her to a marry him and Dayng
Sumbi asked him to make a vast boat in one night. In
the night, Sangkuriang called his friend, ghost and
forest fairies to help him. Dayng Sumbi asked some
women nearby to help her. The women hit the grains
with grain puncher to make noise which disturbed the
ghosts and the fairies. The ghosts and the fairies ran
away before completing the boat. Sangkuriang was
very angry. He kicked away the boat upside down,
and it turned into a mountain called Tangkuban
Perahu. It means the downside boat, which stood in
the north of Bandung.

MY HOLIDAY

My brother, sisters
and I went to spend our holiday in
Bali. Each of us should ride the car
at least three hours. It was the last
week of December 2008. we Left
Solo on Saturday afternoon. We
also didn’t forget to bring our
camera. On Sunday morning we
arrived in Gilimanuk. We dropped
for one day at my uncle’s house.
They had prepared breakfast when
we arrived at his house. We had
rice and “ayam betutu”; really It
was very hot but delicious.

to Dempasar. First we visited
“Sanur” beach. As it was still early
in the morning we could see the
sunrise. We also prayed some
moment on the sand then we
looked for a hotel because we
have no relative who stayed there.

lunch on the way when we felt
hungry. At night we also enjoyed

On the last day
we visited “Sangeh”, where we
could see many monkeys. Many of
them are still wild and they
sometimes bite visitor, from here
we went straight to “Bedugul”
lake, we went around it by a small
voat to see some temples at the
other side. Unfortunately, it was
raining so hard that we all so wet.
We changed our clothes there
vecause we could also buy clothes
at wht shop near the lake. Really it
was so wonderful that I promise I
want to visit Bali again next time.

Tangkuban Perahu
Long time ago in West Java, lived a woman
named Dayang Sumbi. She lived alone in the forest.
One day Dayang Sumbi was quilting when
suddenly, her quilt fell off from her house. Then she
prayed to Gods, “if a man pickes up my quilt, he will
be my husband. If a woman, she will be my sister.”
Then, a male dog pick it up. For keeping her words,
Dayang Sumbi married the dog and called him
Tumang. Dayang Sumbi gave birth baby, named him
Sangkuriang, but never told him who his father was.
One day, Sangkuriang was hunting with
Tumang in the forest and he found nothing. He
blamed Tumang for the failure and killed him. When
Dayang Sumbi knew that, she hit Sangkuriang’s head
with a big spoon and asked him to go.
Many year later, the wandering Sangkuriang
found a house in the forest an old beautiful woman
was in the house. The woman, Dayang Sumbi,
recognized the advanturer as Sangkuriang,
Sangkuriang forced her to a marry him and Dayng
Sumbi asked him to make a vast boat in one night. In
the night, Sangkuriang called his friend, ghost and
forest fairies to help him. Dayng Sumbi asked some
women nearby to help her. The women hit the grains
with grain puncher to make noise which disturbed the
ghosts and the fairies. The ghosts and the fairies ran
away before completing the boat. Sangkuriang was
very angry. He kicked away the boat upside down,
and it turned into a mountain called Tangkuban
Perahu. It means the downside boat, which stood in
the north of Bandung.

voat to see some temples at the

raining so hard that we all so wet.
We changed our clothes there
vecause we could also buy clothes
at wht shop near the lake. Really it
was so wonderful that I promise I
want to visit Bali again next time.
