Three months after the program was finished, International Relations Office (IRO) - UMM invited the Erasmus Mundus
alumni to share their experiences during their study in several European countries. Hosted by the Assistant Rector for
International Relations, Drs. Soeparto, M.Pd, the meeting conducted at IRO office, 10 am, surprised many people.
Alumni from do Minho Portugal, shared their great experiences during their stay in Portugal. "I am very lucky, because I
get opportunity to apprentice at local newspaper. Since I am studying at Communication Sciences Department, the
experience meant a lot to me." Rendra said. "Moreover, I can also join many national events there for free as a
reporter. But, the most I like is that independency. We learn how to be more independent.” He added. Puji Sumarsono,
the one from master degree, also showed his enthusiastic response. “I feel that it is one of the best times in my life. In
do Minho University, I get a lot of chances to join international events such as workshop and seminar. It opens my mind
with new ideas.”

The alumni also gave some suggestions for the coming program. “I think we can propose to the European commission
to prepare space for people who want to pray. Sometimes, it’s really hard for us to find a place to pray. Moreover, we
need also to give more understanding to European people that Islam is not terrorist or bad religion.” Lufi, alumni from

Trento Italy, gave her opinion.

In response to all stories, Mr. Soeaprto showed his satisfaction to the program. He confessed that the program is very
beneficial for University of Muhammadiyah Malang to initiate the ideal to be a world class university. He also
congratulated the alumni for having finished the program and thanked to them because they had been great pioneers.
“I would like to say thank for the shared stories and suggestions. I will inform this to the European committees, and
hopefully the next Erasmus program will develop to be much better than the first one”, Mr. Soeparto closed the
meeting. (iro)
