ABSTRACT

Niken Mardani Puspitasari, 2016. The Significance of Volunteer Role in
Bengawan Solo Travel Mart 2015, English Diploma Program, Faculty of
Cultural Sciences, Sebelas Maret University.
This final project report was written based on the internship accomplished
at the event of Bengawan Solo Travel Mart 2015 within a month in January. This
international event was organized under the Association of Indonesia Tours and
Travel Agencies (ASITA). During the internship I worked as a volunteer in seller
division which the job desk was to maintain anything related with seller in the
Bengawan Solo Travel Mart 2015.The objectives of this report are to describe
about Bengawan Solo Travel Mart 2015 as tourism event and describes the
significance of volunteer role in Bengawan Solo Travel Mart and the problems
faced during Bengawan Solo Travel Mart 2015.

During the internship at Bengawan Solo Travel Mart 2015, I had to adapt
to a new atmosphere and different responsibilities from student life to voluntary
job. I encountered several problems; the lack of communication and briefing; the
limited number of volunteers; and the lack of volunteers who could speak English
because the committees did not equip them with English, whereas it was so
essential for international tourism event.
