Objectives
At the end of the course, students are expected to:

a.

Identify and analyze approaches to selection and organization of instructional contents

b. Understand and identify theories or principles of instructional materials selection and
development
c.

Identify and distinguish types and roles of instructional materials

d. Identify and analyze national standards of education (content, process, and assessment
standards) serve as the basis for materials development.
e.

Develop instructional materials (in the form of instructional module)


2. Course Description :
The course provides students with: (1) approaches to selection and organization of
instructional contents; (2) theories or principles of instructional materials selection and
development; (3) identifying types and roles of instructional materials; (4) identifying and
analyzing content standard of English for vocational school and other standards which are
used as the basis for materials development; (5) stages of materials development; and the
function of typography in developing instructional materials.
3. Learning Activities
Inquiry, expository, and collaborative approaches will be used in the class to help students
attain competencies. Method used are Lecturing, discussion, workshop, and project- based
presentation.
4. Media
The media used in the course are whiteboard, LCD, flipchart paper, and coursebooks.
5. Evaluation
In general, evaluation will cover: (1) Class partcipation, Midterm evaluation, final semester
evaluation, and assignment (individual and group assignments).

Evaluation will based on the aspects below:
a. Class attendance and participation
= 25 points
b. Assignments

= 75 points

c.

= 25 points

Presentation

d. Midterm assessment

= 25 points

= 50 points

Final semester assessment
Cut-off Points:
175 - 200 = A
145 - 170 = B
115 - 144 = C
85 - 110 = D
