SCHOLARSHIP CONDITIONS
ADELAIDE INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
APPLICATION CONDITIONS
1. Scholarships are only available for commencing international students. Students who have already
commenced their studies at the University of Adelaide are ineligible to apply.

(MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Oral Health and Bachelor of Science
(Veterinary Bioscience).
3. Scholarships will be awarded on academic merit and in certain cases country of citizenship and
program of study may also be taken into consideration. Applicants must have received an offer of
admission from the University before lodging their scholarship application. Applicants with a
conditional offer may still apply, but will need to accept and meet the conditions of their offer within a
stated timeframe before a scholarship can be confirmed.
4. The University reserves the right to vary the awards, or not to offer scholarships if applicants have not
achieved the level of academic achievement to merit the awards.
5. Up to 40 scholarships will be available and scholarships will be offered on a rolling basis until all
scholarships have been awarded.
6. Candidates who have applied for, or will apply for Australian permanent resident status are ineligible
to apply.

ENROLMENT CONDITIONS

1. Scholarships holders must commence study in the University of Adelaide in the year for which the
scholarship was offered.
2. Scholarship holders are required to enrol in the University of Adelaide as "international students" and
must maintain "international student" status for the duration of their enrolment in the University. The
scholarship will be terminated if a student changes residency status.
3. Scholarship holders are expected to enrol in a full time load. A scholarship holder who is considering
reducing his or her enrolment load must first consult with staff in the International Student Centre. As
required by the Australian Government under the ESOS National Code of Practice 2007, international
students are expected to complete their programs within the duration specified on their CoE. The
University may only extend the duration of study under compassionate or compelling circumstances.
4. If a scholarship holder enrols in more than the standard load of 72 units for a three-year award or 96
units for a four-year award, or in courses that increase the tuition fee beyond what is indicated in the
scholarship offer letter, or enrols in courses in another institution he or she will be responsible for the
payment of the additional tuition fees.
5. Scholarships are available for 72 units of study for a three-year award or 96 units of study for a fouryear award, subject to satisfactory academic progress.
6. Students who complete a 72 unit three year degree may apply for the scholarship to be extended for
an additional Honours year, but extension of the scholarship for the fourth year is subject to the
decision of the relevant faculty.
7. If a student faces exceptional circumstances requiring him or her to return home they may apply for a
one year deferment of enrolment without loss of scholarship, provided this is approved under the

student visa requirements.
8. If a student enrols in more than the standard 24 unit load per year, or in any way accrues additional
tuition fee liabilities, the additional tuition fees are not covered by the scholarship.

1

9. If a student enrols in courses in another institution, including cross-institutional study, those tuition
fees are not covered by the scholarship.
10. If a student is required to repeat a course the student is liable to pay for the tuition fees for the
repeated course.
11. The scholarships provide a waiver of 25% of the tuition fee for the duration indicated in the
scholarship award letter for study at the University of Adelaide, (subject to the variations indicated in
item 6 above). The scholarships do not cover the costs of visas, Overseas Student Health Cover,
travel, accommodation, living expenses, books and study materials or any other expenses associated
with living in Adelaide or study at the University of Adelaide.
