ESCALATING VOLUMES CUSHIONED THE FALLING PRICES
Jakarta, 29 March 2016 – PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk. a d su sidiaries “a poer a Agro" or the
Co pa
released its audited financial results along with its operational statistics for full year ending
in December 2015 (
5 ).
Sampoerna Agro production reached record high wihin the final three months of 2015. Total output for
the year exceeded 388 thousand tons of CPO, or 21% higher than 2014. This achievement was primarily
attributable to our Kalimantan estates that booked 28% output growth, which was backed by Sumatra
estates that recorded 18% higher volume.
Thanks to our maturing age profile and intensfication efforts within the past years, our CPO production
in 2015 grew 21%, surpassing our growth expectation for the year of 10-15%, said Mar Louette, CEO of
the Company.
Nonetheless, we believed that the production could even be higher if not for the challenging weather
condition that persisted in the second half of the year, Louette added. For instance, oil extraction
rates within our South Sumatra estates dipped to its lowest in November at only 19%, or a full 2% lower
than our yearly average within the region. The Company recorded 21.2% extraction rates in 2015, lower
than the previous year.
On the flip side, average selling price for the Company’s biggest revenue contributor fell 16% to reach
Rp7,031 per kg in 2015. Sales of CPO contributed Rp2,481.81 billion in 2015, or 83% of total revenue for
the Company which amounted to Rp3,242.38 billion, around 8% lower than 2014 figure.
On the other hand, revenue contribution from palm kernel, as the second biggest contributor, rose 5%
versus 2014 because sales volume, which climbed 22%, more than offset the 13% reduction in prices
during the year. Third biggest contributor was DxP Sriwijaya seeds which contributed Rp58.51 billion in
sales, or 18% higher than the previous year, attributable to higher selling price and sales volume.
In December 2015, Sampoerna Agro had also managed to close a deal with New Forest Asset
Management Pty Ltd who shared the prospects of a rubber business in the years ahead. A JV was
formed under PT Hutan Ketapang Industri, subsidiary with 100,000 hectares of forestry concession in
Ketapang, West Kalimantan.
Budi Halim, CFO of the Company said, Through the JV, we can see pre-money valuation for the 65%
share in HKI to be roughly Rp950 billion, implying that enterprise valuation for Sampoerna Agro, net of
the rubber business, to equal USD4,150 per hectare of nucleus oil palm estates. It is even lower than
toda ’s a tual planting cost that averages around USD5,200 per hectare.
