Keywords: genre, report text, generic structure, process type In learning English, there are four skills; listening, speaking, reading, and writing. There are also some materials, like genre, grammar, vocabulary, and so on. In writing, genre is one of the materials. Genre is a kind of text or text types. It consists of social function, generic structure, and linguistic features. Generic structure is the major part of genre. The function of generic structure is to tell the reader how the text is made. There are some kinds of genre; narrative, descriptive, report, and so on. Report text is about result observation or analysis and also describes natural process, social or environment. Process type is part of linguistic features. Processes are realized by verbs.
The objective of this research are (1) to describe the generic structure in students’ report text of science 2 class eleventh grade students of MA Matholi’ul Huda Bugel Jepara in academic year 2013/2014, and (2) to find out the process type found in studen ts’ report text of science 2 class eleventh grade students of MA Matholi’ul Huda Bugel Jepara in academic year 2013/2014.
Descriptive qualitative method has been utilized to reach the objectives of this research. The data of this research is generic structure and process type. Meanwhile, the data source of this research is the students’ report text of science 2 class eleventh grade students of MA Matholi’ul Huda Bugel Jepara in academic year 2013/2014.
The result of this research showed that there are 25 st udents’ report texts that really report texts which are 22 students’ report texts that have incorrect generic structure and there have 3 students’ report texts that are correct generic structure. Then the result of analyzing process type of 25 students’ report texts that there are 82 clauses for material process, 18 clauses for mental process, 36 clauses for behavioral process, none for verbal process, 158 clauses for relational process, 14 clauses for existential process, and none for meteorological process.
Therefore, the writer suggests that the students should study more about the generic structure of report text, so they can differentiate between general classification and description. Besides that, the students should know what the process type that often used in report text is.

Terdapat juga beberapa materi, seperti genre, grammar, dan vocabulary. Pada skill writing, genre merupakan jenis dari text atau text type. Itu meliputi social function, generic structure, dan linguistic features.
Generic structure merupakan bagian penting dari genre. Fungsi dari generis structure adalah memberitahu kepada pembaca bagaimana text itu dibuat. Ada beberapa jenis genre; narrative, descriptive, report, dll. Report text adalah hasil observasi atau analisis dan juga menggambarkan prose salami, social atau lingkunga. Proses type adalah salah satu bagian dari linguistic features. Proses diperoleh dari kata kerja.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk menguraikan generic structure dari report text siswa kelas XI IPA 2 MA Mat holi’ul Huda Bugel Jepara Tahun
Akademik 2013/2014, dan (2) untuk menemukan process type yang ditemukan pada report text siswa kelas XI IPA 2 Matholi’ul Huda Bugel Jepara Tahun Akademik 2013/2014.
Metode deskriptif kualitatif digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian ini. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah generic structure dan process type. Sedangkan, sumber data dari penelitian ini adalah report text siswa kelas XI
IPA 2 Matholi’ul Huda Bugel Jepara Tahun Akademik 2013/2014
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 25 report text siswa yang benar-benar report text yang mana terdapat 22 report text siswa yang salah generic structure nya, dan terdapat 3 report text siswa yang benat generic structure nya. Kemudian hasil dari analisis process type dari 25 report text siswa bahwa terdapat 82 klausa untuk material process, 18 klausa untuk mental process, 36 klausa untuk behavioral process, tidak ada untuk verbal process, 158 klausa untuk relational process, 14 kalusa untuk existential process, dan tidak ada untuk meteorological process.
Penulis menyarankan bahwa siswa harus belajar lebih tentang generic structure dari report text, sehingga mereka dapat membedakan antara general classification dan description. Disamping itu, siswa harus mengetahui process type apa yang sering digunakan pada report text.
