RECOFTC–The Center for People and Forests is a not-for-profit international organization with
its headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand. It specializes in capacity building for community
forestry and devolved forest management. RECOFTC engages in strategic networks and
effective partnerships with governments, nongovernment organizations, civil society, the
private sector, local people, and research and educational institutes throughout the AsiaPacific region and beyond. With over 25 years of international experience and a rights-based
approach to capacity building – involving research, analysis, piloting and demonstration,
strategic communication, and training and learning networks – RECOFTC delivers innovative
solutions for people and forests.
RECOFTC is currently seeking an intern as a member of the Strategic Communication team
who ill help facilitate a d support RECOFTC’s o erall co
u icatio acti ities i the areas of
public awareness, media, publications, marketing and fundraising, and web presence. S/he
will work closely with other programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Working under the supervision of the Communication Manager, the Intern will:











Edit the monthly People and Forests Newsletter by monitoring English language news
outlets for relevant news and compiling relevant articles for wider sharing
Copyedit reports, case studies and other publications; oversee the production of
communication tools and products
Research and write stories of change and other articles on the impacts and
achievements of RECOFTC programmes
Take a lead role in maintaining and developing the RECOFTC website, ensuring that the
content is engaging, up-to-date and relevant
Provide advice to RECOFTC staff on effective communication; developing
communications components and strategies for projects and activities
Enhance RECOFTC's online presence to make use of social media, including blogs,
twitter, YouTube, etc; taking a lead on promoting organizational strategy for social
media

Organize special events, press conferences, and field visits;
Pro ide creati e support to RECOFTC’s i for atio a d
arketing activities,
contributing to the development of the organizational brand identity and
organizational profile; and
Perform other tasks as required by Communication Manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The Intern will have the following minimum qualifications and experience:
Essential:










Strong experience in writing and editing
Bachelor’s degree i co
u icatio , jour alis , or related field
Expertise or proven interest in Asia-Pacific environmental and/or social
development issues
Excellent English-language communication skills in both written and spoken forms
Fully conversant with use of new technology for communications and outreach,
including the web and multi-media tools
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people at all levels in a
multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
Values the sharing of information and continuous improvement in a co-operative
atmosphere of constructive evaluation and learning, and is committed to staff
development; and
Fluency in English.
