Abstract
This study aims to investigate the students’ attitude toward the activities used by
preschool English teachers. The study addresses the question: What are the
students’ attitudes toward the activity used by preschool English teacher? The
participants of this study were 24 preschool students from REALFUNRAINBOW
and Apple Kids preschools in Salatiga. The data were obtained through
observations on the participants’ classroom behavior which were conducted 12
times from April 12, 2011 until May 5, 2011 in both preschools. The findings of
the present study show that activities which were done in groups and involved
movements made the learning atmosphere more enjoyable. When the activities
required the participants to do the activities individually or did not include
movements, the participants showed less willingness and enthusiasm to the lesson.
This research proposes two suggestions. First, activities to teach English to
preschoolers should involve group work. Second, activities should also involve
motor skill or movements. This research is limited to REALFUNRAINBOW and
Apple Kids students. Therefore, the result may not be applicable in other places.
However, it is hoped that the findings of this study can give some insights for
preschool English teachers in selecting or designing more appropriate activities.
