Abstract

Listening is one of the four major skills in English learning that every learner should master.
However, listening becomes the skill that is not easy to master. This study aimed to find out
the students’ perception toward news broadcast as listening material in Kotabahasa language
center Salatiga. This study used a descriptive method since the data and the result of the
study was in descriptive form. Five participants from Kotabahasa language center Salatiga
were selected using a convenience sampling technique. The participants were interviewed to
elicit the data. The data were analyzed using content analysis technique. The results of the
study were discussed in four themes. The findings show that the students found news
broadcast as useful material in learning English and it helped them in speaking, reading and
writing skill development.
