ABSTRAK
POTENSI PENGEMBANGAN BUDIDAYA SAPI PERAH
DI KECAMATAN CIGUGUR KABUPATEN KUNINGAN
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi kondisi fisik dan sosial ekonomi,
menganalisis potensi pengembangan budidaya sapi perah dan menganalisis strategi
pengembangan budidaya sapi perah. Wilayah sampel penelitian meliputi lima
desa/kelurahan yaitu Cisantana, Cileuleuy, Puncak, Babakanmulya dan Cipari dengan
60 sampel peternak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kondisi fisik dan
sosial ekonomi di Kecamatan Cigugur mendukung dalam pengembangan budidaya sapi
perah. Kondisi fisik meliputi iklim, ketersediaan air, topografi, kemiringan lereng dan
jenis tanah. Sedangkan kondisi sosial ekonomi meliputi tingkat pendidikan peternak,
pengalaman, kepemilikan ternak, modal, tenaga kerja dan aspek budidaya.
Diidentifikasi dari kondisi tersebut maka terdapat potensi untuk pengembangan
budidaya sapi perah yaitu potensi ketersediaan sumber pakan hijauan melimpah dengan
hasil 10.295 BK/ton/Tahun. Jumlah sapi perah di Kecamatan Cigugur adalah 3.867,2
ST yang memerlukan pakan hijauan kering sebanyak 4.408 BK/ton/Tahun. Potensi
pasar untuk sapi perah masih luas baik di Kabupaten Kuningan maupun dari luar
wilayah Kabupaten. Melihat potensi tersebut Kecamatan Cigugur memiliki potensi
untuk menambah jumlah sapi perah karena ketersediaan lahan dan pakan masih
mencukupi untuk penambahan 3.673 ST dan permintaan pasar terhadap susu tinggi.
Analisis SWOT menunjukan bahwa budidaya sapi perah potensial dikembangakan di
Kecamatan Cigugur dengan cara meningkatkan produktivitas sapi perah agar dapat
memenuhi permintaan susu. Saran dalam penelitian ini adalah peternak bisa lebih
memanfaatkan sumberdaya pakan hijauan rumput selain dari limbah pertanian serta
meningkatkan keterampilan peternak dalam melaksanakan budidaya sapi perah agar
menghasilkan kuantitas dan kualitas susu yang optimal guna memenuhi permintaan
pasar karena kecamatan Cigugur masih memiliki potensi untuk melakukan penambahan
sapi perah.

POTENTIAL OF DAIRY CATTLE DEVELOPMENT IN CIGUGUR SUB
DISTRICT KUNINGAN REGENCY
The purpose of this study is to identify the physical and socio-economic conditions,
analyze the potential for the development of dairy farming and the development of
strategies to analyze dairy farming. Sample areas covering five villages is Cisantana,
Cileuleuy, Puncak, Babakanmulya and Cipari with 60 sample farmers. Based on the
results of the study showed that the physical and socio-economic conditions in Cigugur
sub district support in the development of dairy farming. Physical conditions include
climate, water availability, topography, slope and soil type. While the socio-economic
conditions of farmers include education level, experience, ownership of livestock,
capital, labor and cultivation aspects. Identified from these conditions, there is potential
for the development of dairy farming is a potential source of forage availability is
abundant with the results of 10 295 BK/ ton / year. The number of dairy cows in the
district is 3867.2 ST Cigugur requiring as many as 4,408 dry forage BK/ ton / year. The
potential market for dairy cows is still widespread in both the district Brass and outside
the district. Seeing the potential of the Cigugur sub district has the potential to increase
the number of dairy cows because of the availability of land and feed is sufficient for
the addition of 3,673 ST and high market demand for milk. SWOT analysis shows that
dairy farming is developed in sub district Cigugur potential by increasing productivity
of dairy cows in order to meet the demand for milk. Suggestions in this research is to
better utilize the resources breeders forage grass apart from agricultural waste and
improving the skills of farmers in dairy farming implement in order to produce the
quantity and quality of milk that is optimal in order to meet the market demand for sub
districts Cigugur still have the potential to make the addition of dairy cows.
