PREFACE
En g lis h fo r S M K Book 1, which is designed based on the basic com petencies
determ in ed by Pusat Kurikulum 20 0 5, is written to m eet with the n eed of
sources for teaching and learning English in vocational schools.
This book, which m ay require about 148 hours, is intended for the first level
(novice) of vocational school students to im prove their oral as well as written
perform ance. This book aim s:
1.

to practice and develop the four language skills

2.

to develop the knowledge, skill, and understanding required by students
to becom e professional em ployees or entrepreneurs.


3.

to m eet studen ts’ n eed to com m un icate in En glish accurately, fluen tly,
appropriately, and confidently in m any useful situations in the work places
as well as in society.
