FLL STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARD GRAMMAR AS A COURSE AND
AS A LANGUAGE COMPONENT

ASTRACT
This study aims to investigate EFL undergraduate students’ attitudes toward grammar
as a course and as a language component. Ninety FLL students of English Teaching
Program, Faculty of Language and Literature, Satya Wacana Christian University
were involved in the study by filling out a questionnaire which consists of 14 items.
Grammar was known to be one of the most difficult components of a language that is
difficult to learn. Despite known to be a difficult and uninteresting language
component, majority of the students, more than 90% enjoyed learning in the grammar
course. Most of them also had positive perceptions towards grammar as a course and
as a language component. Last but not least, majority of the students also have
positive behavior towards grammar as a course and as a language component.
