ABSTRAK
Bahan ajar guru Seni Budaya cenderung tidak maksimal dalam pelaksanaan
pembelajaran seni tari, kegiatan apresiasi yang tidak dilaksanakan di sekolah
menjadikan kemampuan siswa terhadap apresiasi sangat lemah. Berdasarkan hal
demikian, minat siswa terhadap seni tari menjadi lemah, menjadikan kemampuan
apresiasi tersebut menjadi lemah. Materi kuda lumping dipilih karena banyak hal
menarik yang dapat mengambil perhatian siswa sehingga akan banyak hal yang
ingin siswa ketahui, dari hal inilah peneliti memilih model Discovery Learning.
Model ini memberikan kesempatan pada siswa untuk menemukan hal baru yang
ingin diketahui siswa secara mandiri.
Penelitian ini dirumuskan untuk
mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan apresiasi siswa sebelum, saat proses, dan
setelah diterapkan model Discovery Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh model Discovery Learning untuk meningkatkan
apresiasi siswa pada saat sebelum, proses, dan setelah diadakan treatment dalam
pembelajaran seni tari. Manfaat penelitian ini dapat menambah ilmu pengetahuan
mengenai model Discovery Learning untuk meningkatkan apresiasi siswa dalam
kriteria mengamati, menghayati, dan mengevaluasi. Metode eksperimen dengan
jenis penelitian Pre-Eksperimental Design (One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design)
digunakan peneliti karena tidak adanya kelas pembanding pada pelaksanaan
penelitian. Hasil penelitian dilapangan dari dilaksanakannya kegiatan apresiasi
tari kuda lumping dapat dilihat dari hasil uji hipotesis bahwa thitung > ttabel.
Analisis data dari ketiga kriteria dalam apresiasi siswa diperoleh thitung 42,4 dan
ttabel 1,687. Berdasarkan bukti pengolahan data dari nilai pretest, proses, dan
posttest membuktikan bahwa nilai siswa meningkat dengan signifikan. Simpulan
dari hasil penelitian ini bahwa model Discovery Learning menjadi salah satu
alternatif untuk meningkatkan apresiasi siswa.

ABSTRACT
Teaching materials used by arts teachers in the implementation of learning
the art of dance has not been maximized; appreciation activities which are not
carried out in schools make the students' ability in appreciating arts become very
weak. Based on the fact, students' interest towards the art of dance tends to be
weak; making the appreciation capability becomes weaker. Kuda Lumping
materials has been chose based on its capability of presenting lots of interesting
things that could attract students' attention and curiousness. Furthermore, based on
the previous statement, for this research, the researcher chose discovery learning
model. This model provides an opportunity for students to discover new things
that the students want to know independently. This study was formulated to
determine how students' appreciation abilities before, during the process, and after
the application of discovery learning model. This study aims to determine how the
influence of Discovery Learning model in learning can increase students'
appreciation before, during, and after the treatment given by researcher in learning
the arts of dance. The research can provide a benefit such as an increase of
knowledge of discovery learning model in order to increase students’ appreciation
level in observing, appreciating and evaluating. Experimental method with type
research pre-experimental design (one-group pretest-posttest design) used by the
researcher for the reason of the absence of comparable grade in conducting the
study. The results of field research in Kuda Lumping appreciation activities can be
seen from the results of hypothesis test that t count> t table. Analysis of the data from
the three criteria of students’ appreciation shows that tcount is 42.4 and ttable is
1,687. Based on the evidence from the pretest, process, and posttest, it can be
proved that student scores has increased significantly. The conclusion of this
research is discovery learning models can be used as an alternative to improve
students' appreciation in arts.
