the skripsi entitled “The Analysis of English Textbook: “When English Rings a
Bell” used in the 7th grade Students in the Academic year 2014/2015

Teaching learning process needs Textbook to be guidance. Textbook

consists of many procedure, activities and material that used in learning process.
Textbook also can define, as a book prepared for students in teaching learning
process. A good textbook should be relevant with the curriculum and can support
the implementation of curriculum. The new curriculum emphasize on daily
communication, oral and written communication. Which in priority are speaking
skill and writing skill, as basic skills in communication. Teacher needs a guide or
textbook to realize the goal of curriculum 2013. In curriculum 2013, the
government published a textbook entitled “When English Rings a Bell”. That
textbook published with the syllabus in the same time.
The objective of the research is to describe what is the most English skill
develops in “When English Rings a Bell Textbook”, and how does “When
English Rings a Bell” Textbook Explore English skill to the students.
The writer used qualitative research, which will describe the findings.
Qualitative research is a research that the findings are not resulted by statistic
procedure or other calculation. However, if there is a different number it has
means something. It has interpretation for the research. For example, the most
skill develops in each chapter, and from all of chapter, the higher number is the
most English skill that develops.
The result of the research is in each chapter the most English skill found is
speaking skill and writing skill. After calculate from chapter I until chapter XI, the

writer founds the most English skill that develop is speaking skill that found for
78 times from 168 activities. In explore English skill this textbook uses
communicative exercise for the students, in each activity make the students active
in teaching learning process, and develop their English skill by doing the
activities.
From the result of the research, this textbook is in line with the syllabus,
with the most English skill develop is speaking skill that found 78 times, and the
writing skill found 74 times.
Textbook that uses by the teacher to teach should suitable with the
syllabus, which can raise the goal of the curriculum that use by the school.

Dalam proses pembelajaran membutuhkan buku paket sebagai pedoman.
Buku paket berisi tentang tata cara, aktifitas, dan materi yang digunakan dalam
proses pembelajaran. Buku juga dapat memberi deskripsi, sebagai buku untuk
pengajaran di sekolah.Buku yang baik harus sesuai dengan kurikulum yang
digunakan.Buku tersebut juga dapat membantu dalam tujuan pelaksaan
kurukulum.Kurikulum yang tebaru digunakan menekankan pada komunikasi
sehari-hari, secara langsung maupun tertulis. Yang mana prioritasnya adalah
speaking skilldanwriting skill sebagai skill dasar dalam berkomunikasi. Guru
membutuhkan pedoman atau buku yang sesuai dengan tujuan dari kurikulum
2013 untuk mewujudkan tujuan tersebut. Dalam kurikulum 2013, pemerintah
menerbitkan sebuah buku dengan judul “When English Rings a Bell”.Buku
tersebut di luncurkan bersamaan dengan silabus.
Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah skill
terbanyak yang digunakan di dalam buku “When English Rings a Bell”, dan
bagaimana buku “When English Rings a Bell” mengeksplore skill Bahasa inggris
kepada siswa.
Penulis menggunakan Metode kualitatif yang akan mendeskripsikan
penemuan si penulis. Metode kualitatif adalah sebuah metode di mana temuannya
tidak berupa hitungan dan angka-angka.Namun demikian, apabila ditemukan
selisih angka, maka menimbulkan perbedaan interpretasi terhadap

penelitian.Misalnya, skill terbanyak yang ditemukan dalam setiap chapter, dan
dari semua chapter, angka tertinggi menunjukkan Skill Bahasa inggris terbanyak
yang di temukan.
Hasil dari penelitian di setiap chapter ditemukan paling banyak adalah
speking skilldan writing skill.Setelah menghitung dari chapter I sampai chapter XI
ditemukan yang terbanyak muncul adalah speaking skill dengan jumlah 78 kali
ditemukan dari 168 activities.Dalam mengeksplore skill Bahasa inggris, buku ini
menggunakan latihan komunikatif untuk siswa, dan mengembangkan skill mereka
melalui mengerjakan latihan tersebut.
Berdasarkan hasil dari penelitian, buku ini sesuai dengan silabus
kurikulum 2013, dengan skill Bahasa inggris yang ditemukan adalah speaking
skill 78 kali dan writing skill74 kali.
Buku paket yang digunakan oleh guru haruslah sesuai dengan silabus, agar
dapat mencapai tujuan dari kurikulum yang digunakan oleh sekolah.
