Haluoleo University (Unhalu) was firstly established in 1964 as a private university
in Kendari – the capital city of Southeast Sulawesi. After serving as a private university
thfor seventeen years, it was officially declared on the 19 of August 1981, as the 42th
state university in Indonesia in accordance with the presidential decree No.37/1981. The
thname of “Haluoleo” belongs to a local hero living in the 17 century. The Haluoleo
University is now known as UNHALU.UNHALU was formerly located on a small campus in Kemaraya. Due to limited
spaces and facilities in old campus, the university executives then established a new
campus called , with an area of 250 ha.Kampus Hijau Bumi Tridharma Anduonohu
At the time of establishment, UNHALU had four faculties; the Faculty of
Education, Faculty of Economic, Faculty of Social dan Political Sciences, Faculty of
Agriculture, with only seventeen lecturers. The area of the campus at that time was only
7 ha. The new campus, known as , was then built to
Kampus Hijau Bumi Tridarma
anticipate the development of the university in the future. The area of the new campus
is about 14 km from the central city of Kendari. The time required to build this new
campus is ten years.Since its establishment in 1981, UNHALU has been headed by five rectors; Prof.
Edy Agussalim Mokodompit as the first rector, and then continued respectively by Prof.
Soleh Salahuddin, Prof. Abdurrauf Tarimana, Prof. Mahmud Hamundu, and currently
Prof. Usman Rianse. Every rector has contributed significantly to the development of
UNHALU.At present, UNHALU has 8 faculties. The later faculties are the Faculty of
Engineering, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of
Fisheries and Marine Science. There are 38 departments within these faculties, with 52
Study Programs. There are also graduate schools in the area of Agronomy, Agri-
businesses, Management, Public Administration, Regional Development, and Educational
Management.The total number of students from all faculties and diploma program was now
reaching 19.000, with an intake of 3000 new students (fresh graduate) per year.
Meanwhile, the number of faculty member is 886, with around 116 of them having PhD
(S3) degree, 580 having Magisterial (S2) degree, and the rests having S1 degree. The
ratio of faculty and students is now 1 : 20. UNHALU has an important role in the
development of human resources in Indonesia and more particularly in Southeast

FACULTY OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL SCIENCES Vision
To become an institution conducting the higher learning institution’s three- mission – education and teaching, research and development, and community services – having academic quality and based on social and political sciences to produce intellectual scientists with good characters and morals, and able to contribute to the development of the current and future life of the nation.
Mission 1.
To design teaching programs based on a research-and-community-service-based curriculum.
2. To conduct well-scheduled teaching-learning processes both in the classroom (tutorials) and outside the classroom (field practicum).
3. To develop a research-driving policy to motivate lecturers to be creative in research for either scientific development and commercial purposes, which are useful to academics, students, publics, and the government.
4. To develop human resources, both academic staff (lecturers and researchers) and administrative staff, to be professional (competent, ethical, and prosperous) in order to upgrade the quality of the service to stakeholders and job markets.
5. To professionally implement an open management system under the principles of transparency and accountability for good work performance, high work achievement, and efficient/effective to the institution/organization.

Vision
The vision of Agriculture Faculty is to be the faculty that is civilized, advanced, highly competitive and globally oriented in the field of agriculture in year 2025.

The objective of agriculture program The objectives of agriculture program are to produce agriculture graduates, who:
