Abstract
This study is about the learning strategies used by PIBBI participants who learned
Indonesian in Language Training Center of Satya Wacana Christian University. It aimed at
finding learning strategies used by these PIBBI participants. As the participants of this study, 11
foreigners of the PIBBI students were chosen. In order to collect the data, a questionnaire was
given to the participants. This questionnaire was adapted from Oxford‟s Strategy Inventory
Language Learning. The participants of the study were asked to fill in the questionnaire and
choose the option that was suitable. All the data were gathered, then compiled in tables to make
it easier to read the participants‟ responses. The diagrams were drawn based on the result seen in
the tables. The results of this study show that the PIBBI participants used various learning
strategies. Besides, they also showed different reasons for choosing the learning strategy used.
Key word: learning strategies, learning Indonesian, PIBBI.
