2.1 Nyeri Kepala 2.1.1 Definisi
Nyeri kepala adalah rasa nyeri atau rasa tidak mengenakkan pada seluruh daerah kepala dengan batas bawah dari dagu sampai ke daerah belakang kepala
daerah oksipital dan sebahagian daerah tengkuk Sjahrir, 2008.
2.1.2 Epidemiologi
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian multisenter berbasis rumah sakit pada 5 rumah sakit di Indonesia, didapatkan prevalensi penderita nyeri kepala sebagai berikut :
Migren tanpa aura 10, Migren dengan aura 1,8, Episodik Tension type Headache 31, Chronic Tension type Headache CTTH 24, Cluster Headache 0.5, Mixed

Suatu penelitian berbasis populasi telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan kriteria International Headache Society untuk Migren,Tension Type Headache serta
Chronic Daily Headache dan didapati secara global, persentase populasi orang dewasa dengan gangguan nyeri kepala 46 , Migren 11, Tension Type Headache
42 dan ChronicDaily Headache 3 Stovner dkk 2007.
2.1.3 Klasifikasi Nyeri Kepala
Berdasarkan klasifikasi Internasional Nyeri Kepala Edisi II dari International Headache Society IHS,
Primary Headache Disorders:

1. Migraine 2. Tension-type headache
3. Cluster headache and other trigeminal autonomic cephalgias 4. Other primary headaches
Secondary headache disorders: 1. Headache attributed to head andor neck trauma
2. Headache attributed to cranial or cervical vascular disorder 3. Headache attributed to non-vascular intracranial disorder
4. Headache attributed to a substance or its withdrawal 5. Headache attributed to infection
6. Headache attributed to disorder of homeostasis 7. Headache or facial pain attributed to disorder of the cranium, neck, eyes,
