1.4 Future work

Improvements in this document are desirable on the following topics: ฀ Investigation on existing roundtrip issues – issues with the contents of the resulting documents of a roundtrip should be investigated further, for both development environments. ฀ Taking alternative approaches and languages into account – Besides the assessed two development environments several other solutions exist for the generation of data bindings. As these might provide better results, an assessment would be valuable. ฀ AIXM binding software suite – a comprehensive software suite providing convenience methods on processing AIXM features e.g. TimeSlice management could be built on top of the created schema bindings. A basis for this could be the already developed wrapper components available as Open Source Software.

3.2 UML notation

Most diagrams that appear in this standard are presented using the Unified Modeling Language UML static structure diagram, as described in Subclause 5.2 of [OGC 06- 121r3]. Besides static structure diagrams, sequence diagrams are used to illustrate informationdata flow.
