Testbed-11 WFS-T Information Exchange Architecture
1 Introduction
1.1 Scope
This purpose of this document is to analyze the current market situation with regard to available Web Feature Service WFS implementations from vendors and open source
implementations that are participating in the OGC Testbed-11. The report covers the following aspects.
The report identifies the differences and limitations of support and implementation of service standards particularly WFS
-T, REST, GML, and GeoJSON between vendors;
Provides a review of available WFS-T clients or the lack thereof. This report offers recommendations to aid GIS vendors implementing support for
these standards. The recommendations include detailed advice to avoid discrepancies between implementations of these standards.
Review the capabilities of tools and standards such as GeoSynchronization Service GSS and others to provide additional engineering and workflow aspects
needed to be addressed such as, verification and notification, data and access security, exception handling and system hardening before being robustly
implementable.
Provides a QA section of questions raised during the Testbed about the other topics discussed in this document.
