1.2 Reason for Choosing Topic
It is important for the teachers to realize that the learners’ ability in understanding English is poor. Many students have little enthusiasm in
English classes. Teachers need to motivate the students to create intention. I have chosen the topic “ The Use of Flash Game as Media to Improve
Students Vocabulary a case of year VII students of SMP Negeri I Kaliwungu “ with the following reasons:
1 Students of Junior High School Have problems in mastering the
vocabulary items they learn. 2
Most of the English teacher does not utilize a game, flash game on computer game in teaching vocabulary.
3 To implemented teaching learning process using Flash Game.
1.3 Statements of the Problem
Based on the descriptions above, I consider the following problems will be useful for the discussion of the thesis:
1 Is there any significant difference of the vocabulary achievement
between the students taught by using Flash Game and those taught by using conventional method for the year VII students of Junior High
School. 2
Are Flash Games effective media in teaching vocabulary to the year VII students of Junior High School.

1.4 Objectives of the Study
The objectives of the study can be elaborated as follows: 1
To explain the use of Flash Game as a Media to Improve Vocabulary for the year VII of Junior High School.
2 To investigate whether there is any significant difference in the
vocabulary achievements of the students taught by using Flash Game and those taught using conventional method.
1.5 Significance of the Study
By conducting this research, hopefully I can give useful contributions in teaching English, especially for:
1. English Teacher of Junior High School The result of the study will be hopefully useful for English
teachers of Junior High School especially in making the students be motivated to learn English and also in improving the result of teaching
vocabulary. 2. The students
Techniques that are used in this research can help students to improve their acquisition in vocabulary. They feel enjoy in learning
English by playing an educational game like flash game.
