Nyamuk Aedes sp bertindak sebagai vektor penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue, Filariasis,
Yellow fever dan demam Chikungunya. Berbagai cara dilakukan untuk membunuh atau sekedar
mengusir nyamuk secara kimiawi. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui daya proteksi ekstrak
daun rosemary sebagai repellent terhadap nyamuk Aedes sp. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian
eksperimental laboratorium, dengan rancangan true experimentalpost test only control group
design. Ekstrak daun Rosemary dibuat di Laboraturium Kimia UMM September 2008. Penelitian
dilakukan di Laboratorium Uji Insektisida Balai Penelitian Vektor Reservoar Penyakit (BPVRP)
Salatiga Jawa Tengah bulan Desember 2008. Konsentrasi ekstrak yang diuji yaitu 50%, 60%,
70%, 80%, 90% dan 100%. Sampel adalah nyamuk betina hasil dari pembiakan Laboratorium
Uji Insektisida BPVRP Salatiga Jawa Tengah. Pengujian dilakukan dengan cara memasukkan
tangan secara bergantian antara perlakuan dan kontrol ke dalam 6 kandang uji repellent yang
masingmasing berisi 50 ekor nyamuk, kemudian dihitung jumlah nyamuk yang hinggap setiap 5
menit selama dua jam. Hasil yang diperoleh dianalisa dengan uji one way ANOVA serta
dilengkapi dengan uji korelasi dan regresi. Daya proteksi tertinggi pada konsentrasi 100%
sebesar 89,55%, yang terendah 20,89% pada konsentrasi 50%. EC 50% pada konsentrasi
65,65%. Kesimpulan: Pemberian ekstrak daun rosemary terbukti mempunyai daya proteksi
menolak hinggapan nyamuk Aedes sp pada setiap konsentrasi yang diberikan. Saran: Perlu
dilakukan penelitian lanjutan untuk segera mengaplikasikan ekstrak agar memperkecil
kemungkinan penguapan.

substances as repellent to mosquitoes. The research was experimental laboratory, with true

chemical Laboratory UMM on September 2008. The research has been done in Insecticide Test
Laboratory Disease Reservoir Vector Research Centre Salatiga, Centre Java during December
2008. Rosemary leaves were tested in the form of extract with 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%,
100% concentration. The sample were female mosquitoes reared in the Laboratory Disease
Reservoir Vector Research Centre Salatiga, Centre Java. The test was done by entering
alternately treated and control hands into the 6 repellent test cages, each contains 50 mosquitoes,
then mosquitoes alighting were counted on every five minutes during two hours. The results
were analysed by using one way ANOVA test and followed by correlation and regression test.
One hundred % concentration has most effective protection power up to 89,55%. The lowest
repellent effect 50% concentration has protection power up to 20,89%. EC 50% was
concentration of 65,65%. The conclusion: Rosemary leaves extract has protection power to
refuse alighting Aedes sp in each extract concentration that has been given. Suggestion: To
minimize evaporation of Rosemary leaves extract the application should be done as soon as
possible in further research.
