Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami partisipasi yang dilakukan oleh
komunitas Urban JeDi, dalam mengkonsumsi dan memproduksi sebuah teks
budaya hibrid dari teks budaya Star Wars, menggunakan metode etnografi media
dengan analisis data kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara
mendalam, observasi partisipan, dan analisis dokumen
Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa terbentuknya komunitas Urban
JeDi dipengaruhi oleh konsumsi mereka terhadap teks budaya Star Wars dan
gerakan komunitas kreatif di kota Bandung. Kedua faktor ini mempengaruhi
partisipasi mereka dalam teks budaya Star Wars, sehingga menghasilkan teks
budaya baru yang memiliki unsur nilai keduanya. Teks ini menjadi teks budaya
hibrid Urban JeDi, yang kemudian menjadi sumber kapital mereka dalam
partisipasi selanjutnya.
Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, maka diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa teks budaya
hibrid yang dibentuk oleh komunitas Urban JeDi memungkinkan mereka untuk
dapat menjadi partisipan aktif dalam budaya fans Star Wars maupun forum
komunitas kreatif di Bandung.

This reaserch aims to understand the participation that has been done by
the Urban JeDi community, in the consumption and production of a hibrid
cultural text of Star Wars, by using a method of media etnography with a
qualitative data analysis. Data are gathered through in-depth interview,
participant observation, and document analysis
The findings of this reaserch showed that the Urban JeDi community was
build through their consumption of Star Wars cultural text and a creative
community movement in Bandung. Both influence shaped their participation in
the cultural text of Star Wars, resulting in a new text that consists both values.
This text became the hibrid cultural text of Urban JeDi, in wich they used as a
source of capital for their future participations.
Based on these results, the conclusion is that the hibrid cultural text
created by Urban JeDi allows them to be active participant in both the fan culture
of Star Wars and creative community forums in Bandung.
