ABSTRAK
Muhammad Abdillah Arsy Efsa (0806951). Hubungan Sensation Seeking dengan
Self Esteem pada Cosplayer (Studi Korelasional pada Komunitas Cosplayer di Kota

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran umum dan hubungan dari
sensation seeking dan self esteem pada cosplayer di Kota Bandung. Sensation seeking
adalah sifat dalam mencari hal-hal yang bersifat baru dan beresiko. Sedangkan self
esteem adalah bagaimana individu memandang dirinya sendiri. Penelitian ini
menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Teknik
pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan snowball sampling dengan jumlah sampel
sebanyak 59 cosplayer dari berbagai komunitas di Kota Bandung. Pengumpulan data
dilakukan dengan kuesioner online dengan instrumen Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS)
dan State Self Esteem Scale (SSES). Hasil penelitian menunjukan tingkat sensation
seeking dan self esteem pada cosplayer di Kota Bandung berada pada tingkat sedang,
dan terdapat hubungan negatif antara sensation seeking dengan self esteem pada
cosplayer di Kota Bandung. Rekomendasi dalam penelitian ini adalah menentukan
jumlah pasti dari populasi cosplayer di Kota Bandung dan meneliti lebih lanjut
mengenai cosplay dan cosplayer terutama dari sisi Psikologi Klinis dan Psikologi
Perkembangan.

This research aims to find out the correlation between Sensation Seeking and Self
Esteem of Cosplayer in Bandung. Sensation seeking is a trait in searching for new
and risky experiences. Meanwhile, self esteem is how a person see in him/herself.
This research use quantitative approach with correlation methods. This research use
“snowball sampling” for it’s sampling method with 59 total number of sample from
various cosplay communities in Bandung. This research used online questionnaires
for it’s data collection with Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS) and State Self Esteem
Scale (SSES) for the instruments. The result showed that the level of sensation
seeking and self esteem of cosplayers in Bandung is average, with negative
correlations between sensation seeking and self esteem in cosplayer in Bandung.
There are some recommendations from this research, which is determine the exact
number of cosplayer populace in Bandung and there is in-depth research about
cosplay and cosplayer, especially from Clinical Psychology and Development
Psychology perspective.
