Appendix 22 11 Non-Performing Loans and Provisions At December 31, 2000, DBSH Group’s total non-performing loans amounted to S4,411 million 1999: S8,149 million. Non-performing loans NPLs are loans, contingent facilities and debt instruments classified as “Substandard”, “Doubtful” or “Loss” in accordance with MAS Notice 612. Out of the total NPLs of S4,411 million: - S3,508 million 80 [1999: S4,952 million 61] were in the substandard category; and - S2,651 million 60 [1999: S4,530 million 56] were secured by collateral.
