ABSTRACT
A taxonomic revision of the genus Licuala in Sumatra is presented, based on
morphological observations of 121 specimens during January 1999 to January 2000
in Herbarium Bogoriense, Herbarium of Kebun. Raya Bogor and Biotrop Herbariwn
It is revealed that in Sumatra there are 14 species recognized, consisting of nine
known species namely L. ferruginea. L. ferruginoides, L. kunstleri, L. longipes, L.
malajam, L. paludmu, L. pelta fa, L. pimila, L. spinma and h e new species are
proposed namely L. altemafa, L. minor, L. mogeana, L. nahmaemis, and L.
posthumusii.
Penelitian mengenai jenis-jenis
Licuala di Sumatera telah dilakukan dari
bulan Januari 1999 sampai Januari 2000 dengan mempergunakan 121 lembar
spesimen dari Herbarium Bogoriense, Herbarium Kebun b y a dan Herbarium
Biotrop.
Dari penelitian ini didapatkan 14 jenis Licuala di Sumatera, 9 jenis
diantaranya adalah L. femginea, L. ferruginoides, L. hmtleri, L. Zonp'pes, L.
rnalajuna, L. palmha, L. peltafa, L. pumila dm L. spinma, Zima y m g lain diusufkan
sebagai jenis barn yaitu: L. alernata, L. minor, L. mogeam, L. nahnuemis, dm L.
pmthumusii .

Andam Surianty Ardan was born in Surian, West Sumatera on 27 May 1972,
the second daughter from three children fiom father Drs. H. Dahlan Bey and mother
the late Agustiar.
She passed her Elementary School (S.D.) examination in 1985, Junior High
School (S.M.P. ) in 1988, and Senior High School (S.M.A.) in 199 1, all ia Solok.
She was graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences
Department of Biology Andalas University in Padang in 1 996.
Since 1997 she received a scholarschip from URGE Project to continue her
study on Plant Taxonomy at the Graduate School of B ogor Institute of Agriculture. In
1999 she married Ahmad Ade Suhada SE, and now has one daughter.
