The Effect of Anterior Bite Raiser against Anterior Deep Bite of Adult in
RSGM UNPAD – Chang Hock Gen – 160110103027
ABSTRACT
Deep bite is an abnormally large vertical overlap of anterior teeth in centric
occlusion which the overlap more than one-third of the mandibular anterior teeth.
Currently, bite plane is the best known tool to repair deep bite. This tool effect on
intrusive of lower incisor teeth and let posterior teeth erupt, thereby leveling the
curve of spee by extrusion posterior teeth. The purpose for the thesis is to know
whether anterior bite raiser can treat anterior deep bite effectively in adult. The
main aim is to prove that anterior bite raiser can also treat anterior deep bite
effectively in adults not only in children.
The research method used was descriptive research where survey was done to
obtain data to describe the characteristics of subject being studied. The samples of
research were 30 anterior deep bite adult who treated with anterior bite raiser at
Orthodontic Department RSGM UNPAD, Bandung. The study data obtained from
the field in the form of anterior deep bite before and after treatment were
presented based on the average value and standard deviation using the paired t test.
The results showed that the average value of the anterior overbite after
treatment (0.472) was lower when compared to before treatment (0.627). From the
results of comparison test using a paired t test, p-value obtained for 0.000
