Based on the title of this thesis which is A Critical Discourse Anlaysis of Donald Trump: Jerusalem as a the Capital of Israel, it is known that the data used is a speech of Donald Trump. In speech there is relationship between intended meaning, ideology and also power relation. Therefore Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is conducted which aims to describe intended meaning, ideology and also power relation of Donald Trump
’s speech. The analysis of this thesis based on theory of Critical Discourse Analysis
(CDA) and its analysis methods which were represented by Van Dijk’ Theory as a main theory and Searl’s as a support theory. Whereas the discussion used descriptive qualitative research method which deals with data that are in the form of word, rather than statistics and attempts to arrive at a rich description of something systematically. It starts by analyzing intended meaning in the script.
Then, it is continued by analyzing ideology. The last is analyzed power relation.
The result shows that intended meaning used Donald Trump want to fulfill a campaign promise before he become a President. The ideology of Donald Trump’s speech is ideology fascism it is because Donald Trump as a President which famous with controversy statement. The last is power relation indicates that
Donald Trump try to fulfill his campaign promise to be Jerusalem as a Capital of
Israel. Moreover he also shows his power as President of United State that he feels all of parties have to follow him.
