  Furthermore, for the English teachers at the eighth grade students in one of Junior High Schools in Adipala, Gandhes Cukat Permati, S.Pd who have helped and gave big support in collecting the data in this research. ABSTRACT

  The main objective of the research was to improve the reading comprehension of second grade students in VIII G SMP Negeri 2 Adipala using Jigsaw technique. The participants of this research were 35 students of second grade in VIII G class at SMP Negeri 2 Adipala. This action research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. In collecting data, reading test as the quantitative data also observation and questionnaire as qualitative data were used. To support the qualitative data, interview to the students was conducted to know the students‟ reading problems. The results of the research could be seen from the students observation sheets that in cycle 1 at 54 % which belong to enough criteria and in cycle 2 at 85% which belong to very good criteria; the score average in post-test 1 was 69.6 and in cycle 2 was 80.2; the learning completeness in cycle 1 was 51.4% and in cycle 2 was 88.5%. Further, from the questionnaire sheet, 87% students gave positive response to the implementation of Jigsaw technique during the teaching learning process. Based on the results of the research it could be concluded that the use of Jigsaw technique could improve students‟ reading comprehension.
