Over time the development of the traditional arts in central Java has declined. This is due
to lack of containers to appreciate and introduce traditional arts of Central Java to the general
public . Availability of building traditional arts of Central Java is currently inadequate , much of
the art theater has been poorly maintained and do not meet the standards of a good theater , this
can cause the interest of the public will be of traditional arts in Central Java declined . Most
people choose to watch a movie or cinema than watching a traditional art . It required a
traditional theater able to accommodate traditional arts of Central Java with the arrangement of
the buildings were made according to standard building performances with modern packaging .
The study begins by studying and understanding the basics of the traditional arts , theater ,
standards regarding theater , theater requirements , and a comparative study of the traditional
theater in Central Java . It also discussed the arrangement of mass and space in the building ,

grouping traditional arts , the appearance of buildings , structures , and utilities used in the "
Building Planning Traditional Performing Arts ".
The concept of the design is emphasized on applying the concept of Post Modern
Architecture . More sensitized to the concept of a merger between traditional and modern . This
concept was applied in the design of Traditional Performing Arts Building in Semarang , Central
Java.
