Title:
Change the “service” parameter value for the GetCapabilities operation
Source:
Frederic Houbie and Fabian Skivee
Work item code:
Category:
Other
Date: 2009-09-28
B
Use one of the following categories:
F (Critical correction)
A (corresponds to a correction in an earlier release)
B (Addition of feature),
C (Functional modification of feature)
D (Editorial modification)
Detailed explanations of the above categories can
be found in the TC Policies and Procedures.
Reason for change:
The value of the “service” parameter is not clearly defined. By default, the value is
“CSW” inherited from the OGC 07-006r1. But the GetCapabilities is overridden
with some specific CSW-ebRIM information so the “service” parameter value must
be equal to “CSW-ebRIM”.
Summary of change: On a CSW ebRIM service, the “service” parameter value for the GetCapabilities
operation must have the value “CSW-ebRIM”
Consequences if
not approved:
The specification remains unclear on the “service” parameter value. This lack of
clarity reduces the interoperability of the specification.

Best Practices Document
To be discussed if all operations in an application profile should get a specific
