To increase exports of wood and wood products to Peru through increased understanding of the
products, FAS Lima coordinated an educational seminar on the uses of Southern Yellow Pine and
Engineered Wood Products in social and residential housing sectors. This activity reached 120
construction sector professionals.

General Information:
Wood and Wood Products promotion with the Peruvian Construction Chamber:
As part of its marketing strategy to increase exports of U.S. wood and wood products to Peru, FAS
Lima coordinated with the Peruvian Construction Chamber (CAPECO) to implement a two hour
International Seminar to promote the incorporation of Southern Yellow Pine and Engineered Wood
Products into social and residential housing sectors. The objective of this activity was to increase the
construction sector’s awareness of wood as a suitable construction material and to provide information
on how to incorporate wood into social and residential housing projects. This Seminar included
information on the following:




Myths and realities on wood construction
Sharing the experience and development of seven field projects in 2016-2017 in Lima area

EXCON is Peru’s premiere construction trade show. About 120 people attended the International
Seminar.
