IN MEMORIAM: NORMA HIS COCK
Norma Hiscock typeset the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies from 1988
until her retirement at the end of 1992. It was in 1988 that we first began to set
the Bulletin’s pages inhouse, so there was much to learn and even more to
invent. Norma was perfect for the job, because she was used to challenges in
many spheres: when she was not producing camera-ready copy of the Bulletin or running her business, she was looking after a racehorse or teaching
art history.
Norma passed away in July 2001. Those at BIES remember gratefully the
professionalism, determination and impish humour that marked her work
with us.
