RELEVANT NATIONAL POLICIES
Under Malaysian Constitution, land and forest is defined
as State Property.
¾ Within jurisdiction of respective State
Governments.
¾ Each State empowered to enact laws on forestry.

¾ Formulate forest policy independently, based on
the National Forest Policy.

RELEVANT NATIONAL POLICIES
National Forest Policy (NFP)
‰NFP recognized vital role of forest for welfare of
community and national economy through concept of
multiple land use.
‰Salient points in the NFP with regard to social/
community forest are:
¾To promote active local community involvement in
various forestry development projects.
¾To maintain their involvement in agroforestry
programs.
¾To develop comprehensive program in
social/community forestry to cater for the need of rural
and urban communities.

¾ No new major project, mainly due to financial constraint.
¾ Continue to implement various SF projects approved in the
9th Malaysian Plan (2006-2010).
¾ However, will highlights some of the current/ on-going
projects.
