  Key words: Learning Styles, PLSPQ Learning styles is the behaviour used by individual in learning something. Every people have different learning styles that reflected in different behaviour, skills, and interest in learning something. Learning styles can be classified into: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, tactile, group, and individual. In learning English know what is the learning style of every individual is needed to support the student’s learning to be more effective.

  This objectives of this research are; (1) to know what is the learning styles in learning English used by male students students of tenth grade students of SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus in academic year 2013/2014, (2) to know what is the learning styles in learning English used by female students of tenth grade students of SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus in academic year 2013/2014, (3) to identify the differences and similarities of learning styles in learning English used by male and female students of tenth grade students of SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus in academic year 2013/2014.

  This research applies descriptive qualitative research, aimed at describing the learning styles of tenth grade students of SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus. The subjects of this study are 37 students; consist of 21 male students and 16 female students. The data were taken using Perceptual Learning Style Preferences (PLSP) questionnaire, designed by Joy M. Reid. Every number of learning styles is classified into three categories, namely: major, minor, and negligible learning style preferences.

  The result of this research shows that there are: (1) The learning styles in learning English of male students of tenth grade students of SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus in academic year 2013/2014 are kinesthetic (39.33), auditory and group (38.67) is a major learning styles preference and visual (37.23), tactile (37.04) and individual (32) is a minor learning styles preference. (2) The learning style in learning English of female students of tenth grade students of SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus in academic year 2013/2014 are visual (36.5), tactile (33.87), auditory (36.87), kinesthetic (36.25), group (34.87) and individual (33.62) are minor learning styles preference. (3) The differences of male and female students learning styles is male students have major learning style preference (kinesthetic, auditory, and group learning styles) to learn English, whereas the female students have no major learning styles preference and then the similarities of male and female students of tenth grade students of SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus are visual, tactile, and individual learning styles is the minor learning style preference and both of them have no negligible learning styles preference.

  From this research, it can be concluded that every student have different learning styles and learns based on their own learning styles. In suggestions, for the teachers, they can help students in understanding their learning styles. For the male students should to learn using their learning style preferred and the female students prefer to choose the major learning style to be their learning style preferred. And for the next researchers can analyze with other measurements and the other model of learning styles to measure students’ learning style.

Setiap orang mempunyai gaya belajar yang berbeda ditunjukkan pada perbedaan kebiasaan, kemampuan, dan ketertarikan saat mempelajari sesuatu. Gaya belajar dibedakan menjadi; visual, auditory, kinesthetic, tactile, group dan individual. Pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris mengetahui gaya belajar apa yang digunakan oleh setiap orang dibutuhkan untuk membantu pembelajaran siswa agar lebih efektif.

  Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) untuk mengetahui gaya belajar pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris kelas sepuluh oleh siswa laki-laki SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus pada tahun akademik 2013/2014, (2) untuk mengetahui gaya belajar pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris kelas sepuluh oleh siswa perempuan S

  MK NU MA’ARIF Kudus pada tahun akademik 2013/2014, (3) untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan dan persamaan pada gaya belajar pembelajaran bahasa Inggris kelas sepuluh oleh siswa laki-laki dan perempuan SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus pada tahun akademik 2013/2014.

  Penelitian ini menggunakan descriptive qualitative yang bertujuan mendeskripsikan gaya belajar dari siswa kelas sepuluh SMK NU MA’ARIF Kudus. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah 37 orang yang terdiri dari 21 siswa laki- laki dan 16 siswi perempuan. Data diambil menggunakan perceptual Learning Style Preference kuesioner yang didesain oleh Joy M.Reid. setiap nomor dari gaya belajar ini di bagi menjadi tiga kategori yaitu, pilihan gaya belajar mayor, minor dan negligible

  Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) gaya belajar pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris oleh siswa laki-laki kelas sepuluh SMK NU MA’ARIF pada tahun akademik 2013/2014 adalah kinesthetic (39.33), auditory dan group (38.67) sebagai pilihan gaya belajar mayor dan visual (37.23), tactile (37.04) dan individual (32) sebagai pilihan gaya belajar minor. (3) Perbedaan dan persamaan dari gaya belajar siswa laki-laki dan perempuan pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris adalah siwa laki- laki mempunyai pilihan gaya belajar mayor (gaya belajarkinesthetic, auditory dan group) sedangkan siswa perempuan tidak memiliki pilihan gaya belajar mayor. Lalu persamaan dari siswa laki-laki dan perempuan kelas sepuluh SMK NU

MA’ARIF Kudus adalah gaya belajar visual, tactile dan individual merupakan pilihan gaya belajar minor dan keduanya tidak mempunyai pilihan gaya belajar

  negligible.

  Dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa setiap siswa mempunyai perbedaan gaya belajar dan belajar berdasarkan dari masing-masing gaya belajar yang mereka miliki. Pada saran, untuk guru, mereka dapat membantu siswa untuk memahai gaya belajar siswa. Untuk siswa laki-laki sebaikknya menggunakan gaya belajar yang paling disukai dan untuk siswa perempuan sebaiknya memilih gaya belajar yang paling diminati. Dan untuk peneiti selanjutnya dapat menganalisis dengan ukuran dan model gaya belajar lain untuk mengukur gaya belajar siswa.
