Assalamualaikum wr wb,First of all, praise be to Allah the Almighty who always gives His love and blessing so that the writer can finish his final assignment that is entitled “The Effectiveness Of Teaching Vocabulary Using Authentic Reading Text To Students At the Second Grade Of SMKN 3 Banyumas” as a partial requirement for getting S. Pd Degree in English Department at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto.

ABSTRACT

READING TEXT TO THE STUDENTS AT THE SECOND GRADE OF SMK
NEGERI 3 BANYUMAS

The aim of this research was to find out whether authentic reading text was effective or not in teaching vocabulary. The population of this research was the second grade students of SMK Negeri 3
Banyumas. Second grade students were divided into three classes, those are broadcasting, and dancing and music class and the total number of population was 75 students. The writer took two classes as the subject of the research; those were dancing class as control class and broadcasting class as experiment class. The research used experimental method. To obtain data the writer used test (pre test and post test) in the form of multiple choice. T- Test was used to analyze the data.
After the writer computed the data using t-test formula, the result of the research showed that the hypothesis was accepted. T- Test result was 4.024 and t- table was at degree of freedom 48 (Nx + Ny – 2) was 2.011. So T-Test was higher than T-table (4.024>2.011). It means that authentic reading text was effective for teaching vocabulary to the second grade students of SMK Negeri 3 Banyumas.
