The purpose of this research is to describe how the film represents the Social

Darwinism in James DeMonaco’s The Purge: Anarchy (2014). This research is

narrative qualitative. The method is employed by watching, highlighting, and analyzing the data collected by selecting the story, plot, characterization, setting, dialogues, events, and some scene representing the Social Darwinism. The source of data is The Purge: Anarchy (2014) directed by James DeMonaco. The data are in the form of all cinematography elements, such as plots, storylines, and characters. The supporting data consist of previous film The Purge (2013). This research is in the scope of American Studies which is an interdisciplinary studies, It involves various disciplines which are applied in the sort of approaches and theories including semiotic theory, social Darwinism theory and socio-historical approach. Social Darwinism in American politics represented by New Founding Father of America and Big Daddy characters. Both of the characters represent government identity and government interference. Social Darwinism in politics influences government to be conservative, business oriented and become non-welfare state. Social Darwinism also results survival of the fittest concept. There are two different concept characters, the fit is an individual who survives along competition or natural selection represented by Sergeant and the unfit is individual who cannot survive during competition or natural selection represented by Sanchez. Furthermore, since social Darwinism influences American government politics, It also influences American economics. The concept of survival of the fittest gives rise to survival of the fittest in American capitalistic economy. Social Darwinism ideology supports of the economics practice of ruthless lassiez-faire capitalism and delivers some effects namely social gap, corruption, distrust to government and ruthless capitalists.
